THE STEEL CLAW & THE SPIDER BOOKS:INDEFINITE DELAY
SPIDER DELAYED.....STEEL CLAW...VANISHED!
9th November,2005 UP-DATE
As you'll have read on the Home Page, the Steel Claw and Spider books have still not appeared [see below for what was said in July]. Comic shops such as Forbidden Planet tell me they have no idea when the books are due and on checking with other stores the response was similar.
If you have the book on order and have paid book stores in advance then some tell me you can get your money back.
Nothing from Titan yet.
All information seems to point to there being a contractual problem related to how much is paid by Titan for the rights. These two books have been put further back since May and no one seems to want to give a decent response to fans or those who have paid in advance through book ordering services.
With the very unimpressed reception ALBION has received one has to wonder whether Titan has had second thoughts?
If we learn more we'll let you know.
27th July,2005
Originally scheduled for May,then June, release, the Titan representative at the UK Convention [Bristol,May 2005] was very quiet after it was mentioned there was a "slight delay".
Titan have so far not been prepared to state why the June, then July deadlines have not been kept.
My information from UK sources is that Titan will not be making any comment as there is wrangling over payment to reprint THE SPIDER. This despite headlines in COMICS INTERNATIONAL such as "Titan Gets Access To IPC's Archives" {CI,August 2005,pp 24-25}.
It seems Terry Hooper was not the only one to have been messed around by IPC [Hooper's "Looking Glass" comic was cancelled at the last moment due to IPC claiming, despite paperwork in his possession,no permission had been given].
A September date is being mooted but.......
ANOTHER DELAY....OR IS IT?
Claims that the STEEL CLAW reprint from Titan might be delayed do not look true....so far!
THE STEEL CLAW:THE VANISHING MAN!
Its November and,as noted above, the STEEL CLAW has not appeared. The SPIDER volume seems shrouded in mystery and it would be interesting to see how Comics International fulfill their prize-promise!
If you are an announced winner -let us know!
So far it appears that the STEEL CLAW reprint book from Titan will be out in September,2005 -see image to the right from a competition in COMICS INTERNATIONAL!
The 112 pp hardback, featuring the first two STEEL CLAW stories, from 1962s VALIANT comic,is part of Titan's Collector's Edition Classic Library. The stories are behind a Brian Bolland cover and will retail for £14.99 in the UK.
