San Diego, California. July 2005 -- AK COMICS the creator of the first genuine Middle Eastern super heroes and comic books, was the first ever Middle Eastern company to exhibit in Comic-Con International, San Diego 2005.
This is the world's largest convention, covering comic books, science fiction, fantasy, animation, movies, television and related pop culture. Comic-Con, which was held in San Diego convention center for the 36th running this year, saw a staggering 105'000 attendees and 7,900 exhibitors over the 4 day period. Amidst the all the huge, expensive booths that scream out brand names, like Marvel, DC Comics, Star Wars, Dreamworks, Nintendo, Disney, Cartoon Network (just to mention a few) AK COMICS shone just as brightly! The booth was always packed with comic fans, celebrities, artists, media personnel to catch a glimpse of the first line-up of superheroes from the Middle East, with sales reaching 11'000 issues.
The hype created during the Con and in addition to AK COMICS "first-class" artwork and stories, attracted the attention of Diamond distribution (the world's largest distributor of comics and related merchandise). They agreed to initiate distribution of AK COMICS' titles in North America, Europe & Asia starting March 2006. The icing on the cake, was the article on the front page of the L.A Times on the 18th of July titled Middle East's new crusaders.

This marks a promising start for AK COMICS international exposure after its tremendous success in Egypt, KSA and UAE. The company vows to continue on its ground breaking efforts to promote Middle East ever growing pop literature.
