BEANO & DANDY ANNUALS -AND BEANO WEEKLY

It's good to report that D. C. Thomson [aka:Dundee Editions or DCT] has finally re-introduced some action to their comics!  The BEANO features the likes of DENNIS THE MENACE & GNASHER,IVY THE TERRIBLE,    THE BASH STREET KIDS but now we have the return of BILLY THE CAT & KATIE ~the feline crime-fighting duo.

This incarnation sees the duo drawn by one of my favourites,Nigel Dobbyn. The artwork is great and colouring superb.  The story,remember this is a weekly comic,may seem mundane compared to US titles such as INFINITE CRISIS or VILLAINS UNITED,but that is what makes it a bit of fresh air in a rather staling market -but a fantastic treat for us fans.

THE DANDY Annual 2006 features the wonderfully drawn Ken H.Harrison DESPERATE DAN -and the sexiest Amerindian chick in British comics -ever!  BERYL THE PERIL is drawn in its usual anarchic style,then there's BAD MAX,CUDDLES & DIMPLES,BANANAMAN does his stuff while we get to see and......we see BERYL THE PERIL get a sexy Lara Croft-style make-over....on computer game!

The COMET is back but this character seems not to be developing yet if his full potential were ever realised.....but still good action-humour.  In fact,I feel a bit weird -I enjoyed this annual.  Retailing at £6.99 look in W.H. Smith and some other shops where you can get special offers -both for under a tenner!

THE BEANO Annual 2006.  Well,we have DENNIS & GNASHER,     BALL BOY,CRAZY FOR DAISY,BILLY WHIZZ [YAY!! hurrmph],  FREDDIE FEAR and a wonderful BILLY THE CAT strip -SPIKE needs his own comic strip!!  ROGER THE DODGER,MINNIE THE MINX and even GENERAL JUMBO is there......but poor JUMBO!!  The former adventures with his remote-controlled mini Army,Navy and Air Force have long gone.  This year's is even limper....the gooey-eyed Jumbo and Sarah sharing a drink at the end of the strip put the final nail in this character's coffin ~revamp him like BILLY THE CAT and give him good stories!
